Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 17, 2026
Project Pedal ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website located at projectpedal.com. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our site. Please read this policy carefully. If you disagree with its terms, please discontinue use of the site.
1. Information We Collect
We may collect the following types of information:
- Email address — if you voluntarily subscribe to our newsletter or submit a route review request.
- Page view data — when you visit a page we record the URL path, the referring URL (e.g. the Google search or link that brought you here), your browser's user-agent string (which identifies your browser and operating system), and a partial IP address. We anonymize IP addresses before storing them: the last octet of IPv4 addresses (and the equivalent portion of IPv6 addresses) is zeroed out, making it impossible to identify a specific device or household.
We do not use cookies, tracking pixels, or any persistent identifiers for analytics. We do not collect payment information or require account registration.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Send periodic emails about new ride guides, regional updates, and site news (newsletter subscribers only).
- Respond to route review requests and user inquiries.
- Analyze site traffic and improve content and user experience.
- Monitor for abuse or violations of our Terms of Use.
3. Sharing of Information
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share information with trusted service providers who assist us in operating the site (e.g., email delivery, analytics), subject to confidentiality obligations. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights.
4. Third-Party Services
Our site uses the following third-party services:
- Mapping — route maps are rendered using OpenStreetMap tile data, which may log your IP address when map tiles are loaded. See the OpenStreetMap Foundation Privacy Policy.
- Email delivery — newsletters and notifications are sent via a third-party email provider. Your email address is shared only for the purpose of delivery.
Our analytics are entirely in-house — we do not share page view data with any third-party analytics platform. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party providers listed above.
5. Data Retention
We retain your email address for as long as you remain subscribed to our newsletter. You may unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email we send, or by contacting us directly. Upon unsubscribing, we will remove your address from our mailing list within 30 days.
Page view records (URL path, referrer, anonymized IP, user-agent) are retained for up to 24 months for the purpose of understanding long-term traffic trends, after which they are deleted.
6. Children's Privacy
Project Pedal is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
7. Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no method of internet transmission or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction or deletion of your personal information.
- Opt out of marketing communications at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
